What this site is about !
Mispoche (Yiddish: Family, In-laws)
The ancient art of storytelling is as refreshing and exciting in
today's world of video and special effects as it was in prehistoric
times. The storyteller must create an experience for everyone.
Storytelling has become the way to heighten a persons imagination and
stimulate their minds.
To me, doing genealogy or family research is not always about the facts
that are gathered, but the ability to draw out memories of those that
have passed on. We become the story teller of our "tribe." Those of our
ancestors shout out to us, "Tell our story."
On the Yad Vashem website that list the names of victims of the shoah
there is a quote that says it all. David Berger in his last letter from
Vilna, in 1941 says
"...I should like someone to remember that there once lived a person named David Berger."
So, I must "tell their story," in doing so I am finding little parts of myself.
It is truly amazing what our ancestors were able to accomplish. Imagine
leaving your homeland, traveling by ship, and landing in a country
where you probably did not know anyone nor speak the language.
From these beginnings they were able to accomplish and contribute. It
goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or
giving up, their desire to go on and build a life for their family.
What they did, they did for us, so that we might be who we have become
today, with our own trials and tribulations. For we are not perfect.
As a story teller, I will relate the story of my family, with all of
it's greatness and goodness, and all of it's many untold secrets.
As a scribe I will make a record for those who come after me. So that
they may continue and become the scribes and story tellers of tomorrow.
We hope you enjoy these pages as much as I have in putting them
together. The study of our ancestors is continuing process with the
help of family, friends and of course the internet.
I hope you enjoy looking around the site.
Warmest regards from your webmaster
